A global nonprofit organization that uses innovative approaches to deliver the power of technology and information to low-income people, giving them valuable tools for building better lives. They help bring broadband into the homes of low-income people, employ youth to train their community members to use technology effectively, and provide socially responsible media properties that offer a wealth of information on education, jobs, health care and other vital issues. Their mission is to maximize the potential of technology to help low-income people improve their lives and enter the economic mainstream. Currently with 10 field offices across the U.S., and an international presence through their global function.
POSITION:
Chief Marketing Officer with full responsibility for the organization’s marketing efforts. This position will also supervise the media relations function. This senior-level position will:
- Plan, direct and execute a marketing strategy to strategically position the organization as the leader in using 21st century tools to enhance and improve the lives of low-income people around the world
- Lead the efforts in “branding” the organization and creating accurate, consistent messages that support organization initiatives and campaigns
- Supervise the media relations efforts of the Director, Communications and Media Relations
- Recommend and implement short- and long-range marketing and communications/media relations goals
- Develop strategies for effectively informing partners, potential donors, and the public about the organization initiatives, campaigns, programs and services
- Develop key relationships with local and national media outlets to proactively identify publicity opportunities
- Oversee the development of marketing publications, public statements, special reports and press releases for accuracy and consistency
- Design and implement tools for measuring the success of marketing and communications initiatives
- Based on knowledge of industry best practices and market research, make recommendations to the management-team
- Lead and manage the work efforts of the Marketing and Communications staff
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 7 years experience progressive experience in marketing, communications and/or media relations for an organization that has a strong foundation is interactive technology to disseminate product(s), and information
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
- Proven success leading the efforts to execute a thorough organization-wide marketing and communications/media relations strategy
- Superb writing, speaking, and presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices, market research, and “leading edge” methods of communication
- Effective project management skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, prioritize work, maintain deadlines and ensure quality of work
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- High comfort level with a collaborative work process and collegial working environment
- Experience successfully directing and mentoring a team of professionals
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- A sincere passion and drive for helping improve the lives of the low-income community through technology
LOCATION:
Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, CA, or San Francisco, CA
COMPENSATION:
Offers a salary commensurate with experience from $130,000 to $150,000 USD, a great benefits package, an innovative and dynamic working environment, and a metro accessible location.
